l have been a part of a few successful wildlife rescues and educate people on wildlife and environmental issues. We have helped in issues to save wetlands, woodlands etc.to save the precious life within. It is well worth the effort. We can all learn to live and work together. Education is the key. In 2011 I won an education award from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for the work and photography I do. Habitat is fast disappearing and with it, many species are also declining in numbers. So many species can actually tell us the health of our environment and alert us to problems we need to know about. They all need to be protected.

Spring in Algonquin Provincial Park 2014

As the saying goes, better late than never. Well these are late but here they are. I have had the best ever spring /summer this year with wildlife sightings. It is my getaway from everyday stresses that draws me to the north country. The peace & quiet, good energy, breath taking scenery and oh yes, wildlife. It is a treasure to behold. I get lost in the moment and just sit with much patience. Patience and quietness is always rewarded with something coming to visit. "even bears". When you are going to spend time in the north country where ever it may be. Always be prepared for encounters with wild animals. Carry a whistle, air horn bear spray, just in case and know what to do if you do have an encounter. It could be the best thing you have learned in your life. You may never use it. But learn it. I learned and I used this spring. It was not a bad encounter but a surprise one. I knew what to do and I did it and the bear walked into the woods to get away from this human intruder. It wont stop me from doing what I do. I will always welcome any wildlife into my life any time. With utmost respect for them and their young. With utmost safety to me or those with me.Here are some photos of the wildlife that I have encountered this last spring. Stress, whats that!!!!!

White tail deer grazing in a wooded area off the road.

A male red fox hunting for his new family. On a very hot day with bugs that could carry you off.

                                                       Canada swallowtail butterfly
A male black bear walking towards me as I walked out of a trail. Got one photo and started waving my arms and clapping my hands. He walked away calmly. I walked way with memory I will cherish forever.
                                                                     Hot red foxes

                                                        Deer fly with incredible eyes.
                                                           Hummingbird bee moth.
Male fox with a meal for his kits back at the den.
Saw 13 moose in this trip of 2 days. One cow n calf. Amazing beauty. All young & in great shape.

                                                             Momma fox at her den.

Snipe with her 2 very well camouflaged chicks. Waddled their way across HWY 60 at 7 am. Oh how lucky they were to have no traffic.

Photographing animals, whether your cat at home or a cougar in the great outdoors, requires patience, perseverance and an understanding of animal behavior so you can predict how they will be likely to act or react, and anticipate the moment for a good photograph.
