This beautiful female hummer was one of the many Ann & I were able to watch and photograph at Wye Marsh on Saturday. They love jewelweed.

My friend Ann & I were very lucky on our outings on Friday to see this beautiful female northern shoveler. She was hanging out around the mallards but they actually did not stick with her. Her bill stood right out telling us she was not a mallard. She came nice and close. What an incredible bill to lug around. Next day she was gone. Just passing through this area we were in at the time. We did a lot of miles birding that day. And all were pretty successful.
Tiffen had some beautiful opportunity for shooting this day. The reflections were amazing. And we had a brief visit from this shorebird that I didn't get the chance to see to well for ID. The pond was full of pink water lilies, beautiful!

Went with a few good friends to see this flycatcher and it was waiting for us on the wire as we arrived. As usual lighting was not the greatest. But what a beautiful bird. Very hot humid day for us. But was a well worth trip. Good friends, good fun and we saw the bird. What more could you want.

This is something I have never seen before and was such a pleasure to photograph. My friends are watching over this little guy in their backyard. And hoping he doesn't become a meal for a hawk flying by. He apparently has been there for a couple years. Just beautiful.
