l have been a part of a few successful wildlife rescues and educate people on wildlife and environmental issues. We have helped in issues to save wetlands, woodlands etc.to save the precious life within. It is well worth the effort. We can all learn to live and work together. Education is the key. In 2011 I won an education award from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for the work and photography I do. Habitat is fast disappearing and with it, many species are also declining in numbers. So many species can actually tell us the health of our environment and alert us to problems we need to know about. They all need to be protected.

Summer's Beauty

In my journies I have been driven to so much beauty of flowers this summer. In spite if the extreme heat and dryness this summer we have still been blessed with some wonderful color and fragrance. Bees have been plentiful and working hard to pollinate. Hummingbirds here anyways are enjoying the natural nectar only using the feeders occasionally. However while some things are doing well, others are suffering. The hot dry summer has taken its toll on many living things. It was great to see these two young children enjoying a pond and counting the frogs within it. Bull rushes blowing in the much needed breeze and the monarch butterflies have already started their migration, here one enjoys some sweet nectar.Sunflowers will provide some seed for the seed eaters come fall migration and then we see some leaves that have all but turned into skeletons. Making for a beautiful photo.

Summer Flowers

What would summer be without the color of all the wonderful flowers for the bees, hummingbirds, butterflies and oh yes. Us.

Puppy Love

These amazing wee golden retriever pups were such a treat to photograph during their bath time. Some are still available at www.petcountryestates.com Innisfil golden retriever breeders. All registerd and adorable.

Summer Loons

This has been a successful year for loons as far as I can see. I even have 1 baby here where I live. The first I have actually seen that I can report in 22 years. Six Mile Lake has 8 babies and so on and so forth. A very good sign. Lets hope they make it with the botulism problem we seem to get on the shores of Georgian Bay in some areas and Lake Erie that kills so many birds including loons. When you see a loon pair with or without young please give them space. So many are hit every year by boaters paying no attention to their presence. We see it all the time. Water skiers, jet skis,by all means have fun out there. But do it safely, you are sharing their space,it is their home, don't abuse it.

Loon Ballet

The act of a loon preening can be quite the dance act as seen here. Beautiful.

Pond Creatures

A couple of my beautiful goldfish from the backyard pond and other creatures you find around ponds. Garter snakes, painted turtles and great blue herons. Wetland areas are a great place to see all sorts of wonderful creatures big and small.
