l have been a part of a few successful wildlife rescues and educate people on wildlife and environmental issues. We have helped in issues to save wetlands, woodlands etc.to save the precious life within. It is well worth the effort. We can all learn to live and work together. Education is the key. In 2011 I won an education award from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for the work and photography I do. Habitat is fast disappearing and with it, many species are also declining in numbers. So many species can actually tell us the health of our environment and alert us to problems we need to know about. They all need to be protected.

Doe & fawns,July 21/09

Watching me as l approach.
Mom in the back with her little ones.

What a beautiful doe.

White tail fawns,July21/09

These 2 beautiful fawns were with their Mom at the side of the road by Big Bay Point Marina,a marina slated for development into a monster resort. They say it won't impact anything. What do you think!!!!!!! Before l left these beauties l made sure they and Mom were moving off into the woods away from the traffic. l was very uneasy about were they chose to graze. Mom watched me very carefully slowly approaching as did the wee ones. l was very careful and stayed on the opposite side of the road moving very slow. They gingerly went to their Mom and she moved them off, just as planned. l knew they were safe and comfortable with that, l went home feeling quite content!!

Baltimore Orioles with young,7/09

Young perched in a vine .
This young one was very hot and panting. One of our rare warm days. The pond below this little one was very busy this day. l had over 6 baby orioles alone. In fact it was baby day at the Howard house.
This one was trying to figure out what the feeder was below it. Of coarse it was an oriole feeder.
Dad taking a much needed rest.
Just about to check out the flowers. Feeder and pond close by this little guy. He was curious at everything around him. What precious little things.

Feeding time July 1/09

This chick wasn't to sure about this food as it was pretty big. The adult ending up eating it at the end because the chick just didn't go for it. Although the adult really tried to tempt the chick with this little sunfish. It just was not interested. It really was quite the show.

dragonfly July 10/09

While in my garden today l found this dragonfly clutched to a flower. This is taken with my 500 mm lens and standing back. It was amazing how this guy was not so easy to see. l thought l would take this opportunity to do some experimenting with color.

This one was done in a blue tone.

Regular
Black & white . l kind of like this one the best myself. Just has a unique look to it l think. Of coarse they are all pretty cool looking as this dragonfly was an excellent subject and was not at all bothered by my presence. Borrowed my son's camera as well and took some shots l will post at a later date.
