l have been a part of a few successful wildlife rescues and educate people on wildlife and environmental issues. We have helped in issues to save wetlands, woodlands etc.to save the precious life within. It is well worth the effort. We can all learn to live and work together. Education is the key. In 2011 I won an education award from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for the work and photography I do. Habitat is fast disappearing and with it, many species are also declining in numbers. So many species can actually tell us the health of our environment and alert us to problems we need to know about. They all need to be protected.

Oct.27/09 Barrie's waterfront

Upwards to 30 loons drew our attention to the waterfront today. Loons every where. Fishermen too. A worry with the loons. l know my son almost caught one off my sisters dock last year. Didn't even know it was out there and it followed his lure right in to the dock. Scared the bi jeepers out of him. Luckily the loon did not get the lure. And Jeff quit fishing at that point. Loons on the lake were getting some nice fish for their meals today. Fishermen eat your heart out!!! And with that the gulls were right on them, forcing them to dive to eat their meal if they wanted to keep it. This gull was just enjoying a beautiful fall day in the sun and taking a lovely bath at the beach.
Ring billed gull taking off.
The next 2 photos are of a loon that just came up from eating it's fish, gull waiting right there for it. Better luck next time!

Friend & her horse Oct. 20/09

l have put quite a few photos in here of a good friend l have known for many years and her horse. Got some wonderful shots. The camera got a few licks and nudges while l stood by the fences taking photos of the horses there. They were very friendly horses and curious to what the heck l was doing. The owners of the stables were great, very nice people. l wanted to share this wonderful day with you and have posted quite a few horse photos. The sun came out, it was warmish and absolutely the best day l have had for a while. l am totally at home with horses and the surrounding area was beautiful. Enjoy!!
Concentrating on the performance of her horse, and listening to the instructor.
Working up to a trot.
Having a quiet moment.
Grazing in the field.

More Horses

This was a handsome lad, What a magnificent horse he is. l think he knows it!

A small horse that decided to pose for the camera. In fact it came over and gave the camera a lick when l wasn't looking. l guess it figured that it was worth checking this thing out. Very gentil.
Another pretty face.

Horses,Oct.20/09

This big boy was coming to say hello to us.
What strength.
Looks like this little one is having a hard time staying awake.
This wee one just got up from a nice nap in the sun.

Foals,Oct.20/09

These 2 young horses were so cute. l think they are around 6 months old. All legs.
Curious as to who l am.
Aren't they adorable.
Checking things out.
Give a little shake.

Horses Oct. 20/09

l had the most wonderful day with a good friend of a long time and her horse. Bringing back great memories of my teen age years when l had a beautiful 16.2 tennessee walker named Caesar. These two have a very special relationship. Looking very dark when we arrived as if rain was coming any moment. Instead the sun came out and it was a beautiful fall day.

Tiny Marsh,Oct.19/09

Still a few pied billed grebes here, was a lovely reflection day as it was relatively calm at Tiny for a change. Sun was even warmish.
Look into the tall grasses and you'll see a great blue heron. Had 4 in the marsh. Loved this secretive look.
More beautiful tall grasses.
Colors were amazing.
Female goldeneye in flight.

More fall pics. Oct.19/09

This would be another beautiful apple tree we passed on the road. Beautiful. Full of fruit for the wildlife.
This would be the porcupine in the other apple tree. l think he was quite enjoying the fall sun.
Migrating sandhill cranes enjoying the beautiful fall day before they make the trip south.

A frosty ever green tree in the early morning.

Beautiful Fall Day in the Country,Oct.19/09

This young porcupine was napping in this apple tree on the side of the road. l actually stopped to take photos of the apples when l spotted him up there. What a precious little being.
Couldn't resist this nice golden yellow tree shedding it's fall leaves on the road. The colors this weekend were wonderful.
There were a lot of various sparrows along the road sides. This one posed nice for the cameras for a few min.
On our journey out in the morning hours,we were greeted by frost every where. Living by the lake we don't get frost until the end. l must say it was pretty. But a reminder of what is to come.
Love the contrast in this photo. The pompous grass l believe this is, is invasive, but oh so pretty and free.
