l have been a part of a few successful wildlife rescues and educate people on wildlife and environmental issues. We have helped in issues to save wetlands, woodlands etc.to save the precious life within. It is well worth the effort. We can all learn to live and work together. Education is the key. In 2011 I won an education award from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for the work and photography I do. Habitat is fast disappearing and with it, many species are also declining in numbers. So many species can actually tell us the health of our environment and alert us to problems we need to know about. They all need to be protected.

Gosslings only hours old. April 30/11

After rain, heavey downpoors, sleet, snow, high winds, freezing temperatures. Momma goose finally hatched her 4 babes on Sat. April 30th. Starting early in the morning and last one hatching at 4:45pm. It was like free at last!! She stood up,did a great big stretch, flapped her wings and sat back down and snuggled her new little gosslings. It was amazing. Dad was on guard by her side. We had a peregrin falcon, pair of merlins, hundreds of chickadees which were attracting the merlins. A pair of mink ran by below. Male had already chased off a mink earlier in the week. Little ones were snuggling close to Mom. One the first born was a little more adventurous. But was being watched carefully by both Mom & Dad. As I sat and watched this pair ,the bonding was incredible. The babes were little balls of fluff. I watched this pair since April 7th when I first noticed her on the roof of this cottage. Boy they sure are deticated loving, caring birds.
