l have been a part of a few successful wildlife rescues and educate people on wildlife and environmental issues. We have helped in issues to save wetlands, woodlands etc.to save the precious life within. It is well worth the effort. We can all learn to live and work together. Education is the key. In 2011 I won an education award from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for the work and photography I do. Habitat is fast disappearing and with it, many species are also declining in numbers. So many species can actually tell us the health of our environment and alert us to problems we need to know about. They all need to be protected.

Cluster of Trilliums

Trillium,April,28/10

Flowering bushes. April,28/10

These are so beautiful and fragrant. What a pleasure to walk in an area were they are in full bloom.

Loses and gains.

Found a ducks nest that had been predated by what looked like a raccoon. Footprints all over close by. Sad, but part of the food chain.
And a pair of Canada geese are sitting on the first egg laid here on a roof of a cottage by the lake. Discovered yesterday by one of the people working there as he was working on the shutters near by. The pair just sat and stood their ground. The male hissed and the female kept sitting. But as she moved a wee bit he saw one egg under her. A very strange place indeed for canada geese to nest at. But thankfully this roof is not that high.
And feathers l'm finding all over near the merlins, of the casualties of those living near this nest.

Merlin

Here she is looking down at me.
Having a nice stretch.

Female Merlin,April,28,2010

Upper left side you can just see the female in this tree and the nest lower right side.
She came out to join the male for a little bit.

After taking these l went to leave. The female flew over me to a T.V. antenna and sat there looking at me. l couldn't resist the opportunity to take a couple more shots of her. So pretty and looking down at me. The male then flew over to her. And they mated. l guess l will have another nest to monitor this year. l love this time of year. The wonders of nature.

Male Merlin,April 28,2010

While out for a walk today this pair was still here. This is the male ,what beautiful breeding plumage.

Pine Warbler after a bath

Boy this warbler had a good time in the pond. Had 2 baths one after the other. Then spent a long time preening on the branch.
