l have been a part of a few successful wildlife rescues and educate people on wildlife and environmental issues. We have helped in issues to save wetlands, woodlands etc.to save the precious life within. It is well worth the effort. We can all learn to live and work together. Education is the key. In 2011 I won an education award from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for the work and photography I do. Habitat is fast disappearing and with it, many species are also declining in numbers. So many species can actually tell us the health of our environment and alert us to problems we need to know about. They all need to be protected.

Kiko update Feb. 21 2013

These are photos from Feb 9th but I went to see Sergei this afternoon. Kiko was looking out her window from her beautiful home observing everything, head bobbing, side to side very alert and watchful of her surroundings. I could see the difference in her right away. She is back to her weight. And doing very well. More alert. Sergei said she is so lively again and back to her old self. She is a family member that even their little dog missed when she was gone. They truely went through so much in her absence, not knowing if she was okay, was she caught up somewhere struggling for her life, dead. It must of been so very hard. This is a very special family with Sergie being cancer free for now 5 years with a new lease on life. And he is living. He and Kiko will have many safe adventures ahead of them. A learning experience that turned out with a very happy ending for both. She is his saving grace along with thier little dog and a very loving ,caring family. I had a lovely visit with them as we sat in the kitchen with Kiko looking on. She sure looks good. I wonder, does she know just how lucky she really was.! She was in trouble when found and would not have been with us much longer if she had not have been picked up. Not everyone is so observant and kind to our wildlife friends. She is home now and they are all happy and she is in tender loving hands again. Just makes you all warm inside to know there are such good people out there. You just do not hear it enough!! We all need more happy endings to make our days complete and stress free.
