l have been a part of a few successful wildlife rescues and educate people on wildlife and environmental issues. We have helped in issues to save wetlands, woodlands etc.to save the precious life within. It is well worth the effort. We can all learn to live and work together. Education is the key. In 2011 I won an education award from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for the work and photography I do. Habitat is fast disappearing and with it, many species are also declining in numbers. So many species can actually tell us the health of our environment and alert us to problems we need to know about. They all need to be protected.

Summer Loons

This has been a successful year for loons as far as I can see. I even have 1 baby here where I live. The first I have actually seen that I can report in 22 years. Six Mile Lake has 8 babies and so on and so forth. A very good sign. Lets hope they make it with the botulism problem we seem to get on the shores of Georgian Bay in some areas and Lake Erie that kills so many birds including loons. When you see a loon pair with or without young please give them space. So many are hit every year by boaters paying no attention to their presence. We see it all the time. Water skiers, jet skis,by all means have fun out there. But do it safely, you are sharing their space,it is their home, don't abuse it.
