Female Red Bellied Woodpecker.5/09
You can see the difference in the females head. Her red streak stops 3/4 of the way to the bill. Leaving a white patch there where the males is all red. Very pretty birds. l have the male here at the house all year. l only see the female come spring through fall.
l have yet to see any babies. l know they nest in the area, l am hopeful each year that they will bring them around to the feeders.
