l have been a part of a few successful wildlife rescues and educate people on wildlife and environmental issues. We have helped in issues to save wetlands, woodlands etc.to save the precious life within. It is well worth the effort. We can all learn to live and work together. Education is the key. In 2011 I won an education award from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for the work and photography I do. Habitat is fast disappearing and with it, many species are also declining in numbers. So many species can actually tell us the health of our environment and alert us to problems we need to know about. They all need to be protected.

Backyard birds

Beautiful female cardinal with evening grosbeak.

New visitors

So who are you?? Says this red breasted nuthatch when the new arrivals showed up hungry at the feeders. Cardinals squeezed their way in and took no nonsence. Was quite cute watching all the antics. I had a handfull of evening grosbeaks 20 years ago. A couple years ago 1 which I was thrilled about. But on October 24th 20 evening grosbeaks show up and on the 25th another 10 making approx. 30 birds. Chattering everywhere in the trees. Coming to the feeders for a much needed meal. Today the 31st. I had them around again with only a handful at the feeders with the rest in the trees. I love these birds. They are so friendly and beautiful.

Evening Grosbeaks

Algonquin

We had some friends along our Algonquin journey that I had to capture. The little red squirrels were so cute and very busy and chatty. People were eating lunch and this pair decided they wanted some. We sure were entertained. We had a great blue heron, chickadees, red breasted nuthatches, blue jays and gray jays. We saw a red tailed hawk and heard another. Juncos and black backed woodpecker were heard and nearer the west gate evening grosbeaks.

Algonquin

As always the scenery was awesome. And this big bull moose was very obliging in that he grazed in a field all day. He was magnificent. There were 3 others seen as well. Next day nothing. This day was warm and sunny and totally full of life.

Algonquin

Gray jays were everywhere in Algonquin and some young birds were still begging for food. One here looks like something may have tried to get it from the lack of tail feathers. But was doing fine. These birds are so amazing. They find you as you walk the trails. And a couple even landed on my camera. They stash their food for the winter months ahead. Apparently because last winter was so mild, the food didn't last as long before it spoiled. Climate change is afecting so many things.

Algonquin

This little beauty was one of two foxes seen. I guess it had made a kill earlier and was finishing up. It was in good shape and had an amazing coat. Oh so pretty.

Woodland Beach Oct.18

Although some of the following posts will be hard to look at. Not all were bad, some were amazingly beautiful. The sand braids, this leaf with some sort of growth on it,I even followed deer prints in the sand, probably passed through during the night. Mother nature can be cruel, but her beauty, well no words can describe that!

Sand Magic

When you get past the sad, there is the beauty. The beauty that surrounds the birds washed up on shore and the fish. Your surrounded by fantasies in the sand. You walk slowly as not to miss anything along the shoreline. The sun comes through the clouds. It looks like it is part of your picture. Sand trees of the forest with a sun shining down on them. Magical and amazing art that mother nature created herself.
